About Us - Mauna Kea Tea

Farm Tours

 Guests walking in the tea field

Farm Tour is a way to see our farm close to farmer's lifestyle. You will take a guided walk in our tea garden and really see the plants, soil, insects and weeds that are different in stable ecosystem.

Following the walk, you will taste our seasonal teas at our tea tasting room.

Please make sure to include:

  • Payment info

 

Please note that we are family owned and operated small farm and have our own limitations.

Children ages 5 and under are free, and ages 6- 18 are ½ price.

Minimum number of participants is two persons.

 

Open Farm Day:

We have a free open farm visit day once a year with various activities, seasonal local treats. Sign up on our newsletter to receive an event update.

From Kona side

Scenic pasture route:  Take Hwy 19 past Waimea to the Old Mamalahoa Hwy,.  Turn right between the 52 and 53 mile markers on Hawaii Belt Road at the Old Mamalahoa Hwy.  Proceed 7.4 miles to the Mauna Kea Tea Garden, located on the left side of the road, ½ mile past the Log Cabin B&B.  There is a sign marking the driveway entrance.

Highway route:  From Hwy 19, pass through Waimea and follow the sign to Ahualoa on Kapuna Road, located between the 45 and 46 mile markers.  Follow Kapuna to the end and carefully turn right, uphill, towards the garden.  In 0.6 miles, on your right, you will see a Mauna Kea Tea Garden sign marking the driveway entrance.

 

From Hilo side

Take Highway 19 past the sign to Honoka’a.  Between the 42 and 43 mile markers, across from Tex Drive-in, turn left towards Ahualoa on Mauna Loa Road.  Make an immediate right hand turn onto the Old Mamalahoa Hwy.  Proceed 2.4 miles up the hill, staying left at the junction with Kapuna Road at Ahualoa Hog Farm.  A sign to Mauna Kea Tea Garden marks the entrance
